About the Item

This classic oak two-stack barrister bookcase by Globe-Wernicke dates to around 1920 and showcases the iconic design that made these modular pieces a staple in libraries, law offices, and refined homes throughout the early 20th century. Constructed in solid quarter sawn oak, it features beautiful grain patterns and the original factory labels still affixed inside each glazed section. The two glass-front sections lift and slide smoothly into the cabinet frame, offering secure and dust-free storage for books, collectibles, or display items. The top section is slightly smaller in height—ideal for smaller volumes or decorative objects—while the deeper lower section accommodates larger books or documents. The clean lines and deep, warm patina of the oak make this piece as versatile as it is timeless. In nice antique condition consistent with age and use, the case shows minor wear from handling and previous use, adding to its character. A great size for a hallway, office, or reading nook, and easily expanded with additional Globe-Wernicke sections if desired. 37h x 34w x 11d
