About the Item
Beautiful large walnut book mill in perfect condition. Beautiful, light, weathered color. It is a very solid book mill with a cast iron base. Made around 1900 by Maple & Co. Dimensions: 60cm x 60cm x H 92cm. The maker, Maple & Co., was the world's leading manufacturer of quality furniture towards the end of the Victorian period (circa 1880). The company furnished Tsar Nicholas's Winter Palace, the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, all the major English embassies worldwide, countless country houses, and grand hotels. Everyone of significance at the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by Maple & Co. The quality and craftsmanship were unparalleled, and this is still clearly evident today.
