Ben King Colorful Stand Designed by Thomas Dariel

About the Item

Ben King colorful stand designed by Thomas Dariel, Maison Dada Measures: W 38 x D 36.6 x H 55 cm Structure in MDF with painted ash veneer Metal base plated with Champagne colour finish Handle knob in plated metal with glossy Pink Copper finish Available in 4 colours (Celadon, Blue, Pink or Wood) and 2 versions (Left or Right) Stand by me hails its name from the famous song by Ben E. King. First thought as a bedside table – a nightstand – that stays by ones bed and sleeps with one when the night comes, the known-to-everyone lyrics come instantly to mind. Taking a step further, Stand by me stands by itself and can stand by one in any room. Shaped by a twisted juxtaposition of two independent drawers one above the other, the side table conveys an idea of movement and of unexpected free-form geometry. Yet Stand by me does not spin and is strongly anchored on its elegant pink copper round metal feet. One definitely can rely on it. Thomas Dariel Thomas Dariel is the Founder and leading designer behind the Shanghai-based interior design agency Dariel Studio. As great grandson of a French furniture designer, grandson of a jazz musician and son of an architect, he has always drawn his strength and inspiration from his family heritage. French Designer by training and tireless traveler, he came to China in 2006 to launch his own interior design studio at the age of 24. Dariel has since earned the praise of the interior design industry. He has received several awards, among them selection for Best International Interior Designer – 2012 Andrew Martin Awards, awarded Top 100 talents in Architecture and Design – 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2013 AD Magazine, Top 40 Young Design Talents under 40 – 2013 Perspective 40 Under 40, Top 10 Best Designer in China – Vantage Magazine 2016. In 2017, Thomas Dariel has been elected The Young Design Talent of the Year by EDIDA China Awards, Design Talent of the Year by Trends and The Person of the Year by Trends Home magazines. Dariel draws his creativity from the different worlds of design, fashion, gastronomy, visual arts and luxury. His design philosophy is driven by his passion for breaking traditional codes and clichés which creates a new language for each design. By confronting heritage and cutting-edge innovations, combining French design heritage with Eastern cultural influence, Thomas Dariel’s open approach unfolds original perspectives. Thomas Dariel is recognized for his very personal creative style and his habit to push boundaries, to provoke and surprise. A singular signature that he has extended with success to product design, signing with – among others – Cappellini and Moroso. In 2016 and while pursuing his interior design activity, Dariel decided to revive a childhood’s dream by launching his own brand of furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories, Maison Dada.
