About the Item

Big Spectator shelf by Freia Achenbach Limited Edition of 25 Dimensions: D 235 x W 33 cm x H 200 cm Materials: resin, sand, foam The Big Spectator Shelf is an extension of the Spectator family and was created in 2020 in collaboration with anima ona. The amorphly shaped shelf is not only offering space for your favorite belongings, but stimulates the mechanism of projection and alludes to different faces that can be recognized at second glance. By recognizing the faces in the object, the role between subject and object is reversed. The object becomes the subject and the shelf is moved into the position of the observer. The different pieces interlock in such a way that they stabilize each other and build a solid structure. It is lightweight and works perfectly as a cabinet of curiosities. Freia Achenbach is a Stuttgart-based object, furniture, and spatial designer. Her approach allows movement between disciplines and playfully explores material, form, and colour. In her work Freia Achenbach experiments with a wide variety of materials and both traditional and innovative manufacturing processes. Her objects always tell a story and bring a certain ambiguity with them. All objects are handmade and/or created in collaboration with small manufactories. She produces objects as unique pieces as well as in small series and realizes commissioned works for customers. Since 2018 she has been collaborating with June Gschwander and Carlo Kurth under the joint design studio anima ona. She has completed projects with a range of clients including Fondation d´entreprise Martell, Kunstverein Böblingen e.V., GRDXKN structure printing, Studio Saje, Moncomble Paris, Centre Pompidou.

Contemporary Shelf in 3D printed Silica Sand, Amorphous Solids, by Erik Olovsson
By Erik Olovsson
Located in Stockholm, SE
Amorphous Solids is shapeless and without order. The project is an exploration of the physical and digital and between production and craft. Amorphous Solids are direct translations of hand-drawn motifs. Organic and immediate, the extruded structures are intersected with straight lines to create cell-like chambers. Each chamber suggests a place for something, but for what is unclear. The amorphous forms can be developed into endless new structures. 3D printed in silica and phenol resin, the granular surface texture is a result of a process typically used in casting mold...
