Gunni Omann
Gunni Omann built a reputation for having created a range of alluring credenzas, desks and other furnishings during the postwar years, and his fans reportedly included the likes of legendary designer and woodworker Hans Wegner. Serving as the main designer in his father’s company, Omann Jun Møbelfabrik A/S, Gunni is known to enthusiasts of Scandinavian modernism for iconic works such as the Model 75 executive desk in 1958 and the gorgeous Model 18 sideboard in 1960.
Founded in 1933 by Andreas Omann in Ølholm, Denmark, the family-run business produced and exported teak, oak and rosewood furniture worldwide between the 1950s and the 1970s. Next door to Omann Jun Møbelfabrik A/S, Andreas’s father owned and operated Ølholm Møbelfabrik, which was later run by Andreas’s brother Sigfred Omann and collaborated with forward-thinking modernist designers such as Arne Vodder.
Gunni Omann took over Omann Jun Møbelfabrik A/S in 1979 with his younger brother Bjarne, and by then, Ølholm Møbelfabrik and Omann Jun Møbelfabrik were part of one company. Omann continued to design until 1989 when health complications forced the sale of his shares in the brand.
The company remains in the family and as of 2005, Ulrich Omann has taken leadership and directed their focus toward office furniture. (That said, Omann Jun Møbelfabrik began reproducing many of Gunni’s vintage designs in 2016 for a new market, including the popular Model 18 case piece.)
Outside of the family business, Gunni Omann worked with Axel Christiansen Odder/ACO Møbler. Still, regardless of who Omann designed for, each piece of furniture places the natural beauty of the wood grains at the forefront of its design.

- Italian Modular Rosewood Bookcase Wall Unit by Osvaldo Borsani for TecnoBy Tecno, Osvaldo BorsaniLocated in Brooklyn, NYLarge modular rosewood bookcase/wall unit by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno (ca. 1960, Italy). Composed of six gold aluminum uprights forming five bays/sections. Includes: -locking bar unit with a removable (non-adjustable) shelf and glass surface -three-drawer chest, a locking cabinet with single adjustable/removable shelf -twelve shelves -all original brackets/mounting hardware and two keys. The set can also be divided to create two separate units (1 and 3 sections or 2 and 2 sections). Alternatively, we have a second six rail/five section unit, and the two can be combined to create a grand eleven bay system. Gold aluminum rails and black steel brackets/hardware are all original; rosewood has been refinished and is in very good condition with only light, age-commensurate wear. Note that the aluminum rails are included (the black backings are ledger boards that we mounted in order to work with the conduit we have running along our wall - they are not necessary for standard wall-mounting and will not be included). Decorative objects/seating are for illustration purposes only. Keep reading for more detailed dimensions. H: 108.63" x L: 139.25" x D: 14" / 40" (cabinet door open including rail). - Large Czechoslovakian Modernist Oak and Walnut Freestanding Wall Unit by JitonaLocated in Brooklyn, NYVersatile freestanding wall-unit/bookcase in oak, walnut, and pine with aluminum, steel, and brass accents by Jitona (1968, Lomnice nad Lužnicí, Czechoslovakia). Five bays can be assembled in total if all pieces are utilized together - seven pine rails, three long shelves, three long cabinets (including one that is half drawers/half open storage), three long glass fronted cabinets, two shorter cabinets, three shorter glass fronted cabinets, and one drop-down cabinet/bar with glass shelves. All cabinet shelves are removable, though not adjustable. Feet for the cabinets and rails are all adjustable, and the disks on the rails offer stability and protection to both floors and ceilings when adjustments are made. The longer pieces displayed as the three bay unit are all 35.25" long, while the shorter pieces displayed as the two bay unit are all 29.5" L. The configuration options for this highly functional unit are limitless. The bar cabinet, five-drawer walnut chest, glass-fronted cabinets, door-fronted cabinets, and two shelves can be custom-assembled based on requirements/aesthetic preference; the shorter pieces just need to be arranged within the same two bays. The legs for all cabinets can be removed, though, depending on the heft of the items displayed/stored, wall-mounting might be required if the weight is too great for the rails alone to adequately support. The 29.38" high cabinets with legs (if using the legs) must be arranged at the bottom, leaving 64.75" of usable rail height for mounting the other pieces. There are some fleabites to the glass (mostly to the edges concealed by the wooden frame when closed) along with light wear the wood consistent with age/use. Conservatively restored and in very fine, vintage condition. Assembled as a 5-bay unit as shown in the fifth image: Measures: H: 105.38" x L: 171" x D: 16".
