About the Item

A wonderful and rare French Directoire Period bookcase cabinet in 2-parts, circa 1800, hand-scraped to its original grey painted finish, and retaining its original wavy glass panes. The lower cabinet has a single shelf and the doors are decorated with the Directoire diamond motif. The interior of the base is painted a pigeon-blood red. The upper cabinet has 3 adjustable shelves and the interior is painted a lovely blue color. Depth of top cabinet is 12” exterior.

Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. Paint is scraped to original gray painted finish. It is an intentional effect to see variation in paint colors and areas where the surface has been scraped. Interior appears to have been painted recently. All glass is original.
