Dating from the early 20th century Edwardian period, a contoured sofa-back Chinese Chippendale manner mahogany bookcase with significant American social provenance: the Allamuchy, New Jersey estate of Winthrop Rutherfurd, listed as Rutherfurd Hall on the National Register of Historic Places.
Three pieces of custom-made upholstered furniture accompany this bookcase: a bowed-back sofa measuring 103 inches in length x 36 inches depth x 32 inches back height x 17.5 inch seat height; and a pair of lounge chairs measuring 30 inches wide x 30 inches back height x 17.5 inch seat height. Separately priced: the bookcase at $10,000 and the three pieces of upholstered furniture at $7,500.
