About the Item
P0307 Late Victorian walnut open bookcase, having oversailing figured walnut top above two height adjustable shelves, flanked by fluted pilasters with floral rosette carvings, all standing on plinth base. This antique bookcase has been restored in the past and it is in home ready condition. Bears Edwards and Roberts label. c1890
The bookcase is solid and sturdy, wobble and woodworm free. It retains soft and mellow colour, the bookcase would grace any home.

Edwards & Roberts were founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
