About the Item
Eldred Wheeler Chippendale style two piece tiger maple bookcase cabinet with tombstone door panels and slant desk bottom. The cabinet with two candle slides, moulded top and two doors. The doors open to reveal three square drawers at top the center with a carved star, four slide-in shelves that are finished all around. The shelves are removable, not adjustable and all above three shallow drawers.
The lower with a slant door, peg construction, batwing brass hardware, two slide out door supports flank the top of four graduated drawers and all resting upon bracket feet. The slant desk opens to a myriad of tiered pigeon holes and shallow drawers including two petite 2" drawers with carved stars that flank the main drawer. The central door is flanked by two "secret" doors. Eldred Wheeler label is attached.
Dimensions: 37 1/4" W (across feet), 21 1/2" D at feet, 79" H, writing surface is 19 3/4" D, 30 1/2" from floor to top of desk. The upper cabinet is 11 3/4" D at the moulded top trim.
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various acceptable signs of age include the door support slide on the left has no stopper. Two keys included, one for upper and one for slant desk. There is no latch for the left side door and would benefit from the addition of a small drilled hole at top. There are minor rubs and light scratches mentioned fo accuracy as the presentation remains exceptional.
