Isokon Donkey Mark 2
Designed 1963 for the Isokon Furniture Company.
Cream-white painted plywood with wooden legs.
L 53 cm, W 41 cm, H 40 cm; Wt 5.2 kg
Originally supplied flat-packed, the donkey was sold as a mail order item. It can still be easily dis- and re-assembled.
A lovely example of this iconic modernist piece! Isokon played an important part in the development of 20th century modernism. Its founder, Jack Pritchard, worked closely with many of the design masters of the key pre- and post-war years, including Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Wells Coates, and of course Ernest Race.
