About the Item
This is a perfect example of Classic French Louis XVI design and available in your specific dimensions and finishes. Our Old Plank Workshop will build to suit, the old fashion way, by hand, using old school techniques. From the solid mahogany, that is ebonized using layers upon layers of various shades of colors, to create what first appears to be black, but under closer inspection, is more of a brown black, allowing for the richness of the mahogany, to peek through the finish, of our Old Plank French Louis XVI style bookcase. The trim is not merely a gilded piece of wood, but rather solid brass that we machine to fit. We have also constructed the Louis XVI style bookcases, using solid German silver, in lieu of the brass and when polished, looks identical to sterling silver.

Antique French Louis XVI Style Bookcase, or if you prefer, Antique French Ebonized Bibliotheque made from solid mahogany over 100-years ago to a very high standard. We have had our share of antique, or supposed to be Antique French mahogany Louis XVI style bookcases, however most tend to be constructed during the 1950’s. This Antique French Ebonized Bookcase is the real deal and is a genuine antique, which our inhouse Old Plank restoration department beautifully restored, with an old school ebonized finish. The French Louis XVI bookcase was completely disassembled (makes for easy ingress and egress), hand-stripped to the bare mahogany wood, restored as necessary and refinished in this deep black Napoleon III style ebonized and brass exterior.
