Mid 20th Century Italian Rococo Olivewood and Burl Walnut Inlaid Bookcase
About the Item
A beautiful 20th century Rococo style bookcase with drawer on top. The whole piece is decorated with intricate inlaid patterns of flowers and leaves. The piece has a serpentine front and stands on 4 elegant carved feet. The two shelves are fixed and the interior shows plain mahogany veneer.
The inlaid floral elements is also known as intarsia. A very time consuming technique where the veneer is cut into delicate shapes while using the natural grain pattern and color to enhance the image. The whole bookcase was finished with laquer to obtain a deep gloss.
The upper compartment has a height of 13.8 inches, the two other shelves are 12.6 inches of height. The depth of the shelves is 12.6 inches in the middle.
The piece is clean, solid and without damage. It is ready for use.
