Modernist Bookshelf from Walnut Veneer

About the Item

This handsome shelving unit dates to the 1970s and has been completely restored and repolished. In the 1930s and 1940s Hungarian furniture was known throughout Central Europe for its quality and stylish interpretation of Art Deco. In the postwar period, Hungarians continued to use sophisticated materials and finishes, while adapting to the new egalitarian design ethos. This 3-part storage unit has adjustable shelves, strong vertical walls and a mix of storage drawers and compartments. The design is enlivened by setting the drawers and shelved at varying heights. The glossy French polish heightens the sophistication of the piece and makes it a stunning centerpiece to any large great room or living area.
