About the Item

This pair of large stacking oak barrister's bookcases were made by the Globe-Wernicke Company of England in approximately 1920. These bookcases each have a set of four stacking bookcases with hand-crafted leaded glass door which lift up and slide in. Under the stacking modular components is a larger cabinet with sliding wooden doors and finished on the bottom with a large drawer. Each of the stacking units is clearly marked with the Globe Wernicke tag and the glass fronts are original and the sliders work as intended. There have been some refinishing and replacements to the cabinetry as identified below, but these would have been the most expensive stacking bookcases made by this renowned office furniture company for its day.
