We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning massive restored Victorian oak brake fronted bookcase A very good looking and large Library study bookcase, this piece can easily house an entire home library, it is monumental in height, made from solid English oak, it is a force to be reckoned with The bookcase is very rare, it’s not often you see them with sliding doors like this, the rail bases on the top section are bronze, the fittings are all original, there are locks in the bottom of the doors, I don’t have the keys or know if they work but I can have keys made for a cost The cabinet has been extensively restored, there have been three small replacement glass panels fitted, timber restoration to the back of the base cupboard in the form of new backing panels, it had previously been cut to go over a wall skirting so it sits flush against a wall as you can see. The base plinth has been checked and restored, all the shelves in the top are new solid oak and fully height adjustable, I can have more made for a cost The bookcase splits into two main pieces for ease of transport, it is genuinely monumental, the top section alone is 5’10 tall and the whole piece is a whopping 8’6 feet tall We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, there will be patina marks from honest use and genuine age Dimensions: Height 262.5cm, top section alone 182.5cm Width 250.5cm in the middle, at the top cornice 254cm, at the base skirting 246.5 Depth 49cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
