About the Item

18th Century Country French Whitewashed Buffet ~ Enfilade is the ideal choice for a tailored, casual decor with the warmth of old-growth oak with a wash that brings out the light grays and whites. Crafted entirely from solid planks and posts, it features a generous surface upon which you can serve or display in style, while providing capacious storage below. Three large drawers fitted with brass knobs on the outer ones and a diamond-form key guard on the center drawer all open to provide plenty of space for all manners of flatware, dining accouterments and linens, while three large cabinet doors below open to reveal a yawning interior ready to store everything else! The doors are hung with brass barrel hinges and fitted with brass key guards, with the idea that leaving a key available to use as a pull contributes to the overall clean, uncluttered look. A grooved lower apron and very subtly scrolled legs round out the stylistic aspect. Note the pegged mortise & tenon joinery throughout the design, and the use of rough-hewn planks on the back indicative of the incredible amount of laborious hand-work that went into the production of such a family keepsake.
