About the Item

Make a statement of beauty and grandeur in your home with this monumental buffet deux-corps. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1730, this impressive Régence-period cabinet stands nearly twelve feet tall and reflects the graceful transition between Louis XIV formality and early Rococo elegance. Built of solid oak, the buffet features reverse serpentine doors framed with molded panels, carved accents, and a shaped bonnet top with gentle curves. The lower section, slightly projecting, rests on a wide molded plinth and offers additional enclosed storage. The piece retains a wonderful two-tone painted finish in muted blue-gray and cream, creating a refined yet timeworn look. The interior is painted a striking French blue, lending depth and contrast when the doors are opened. All shelving is original. Versatile and stately, this grand cabinet could serve as a display case, bookcase, or even an elegant entertainment center. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a beautifully rubbed patinated surface. Measures: 80” W x 30” D x 129” H.
