18th Century German Oak Buffet
About the Item
Simple, rustic and beautifully constructed, this antique oak buffet has stood the test of time. Made in Germany in the 1700s, decoration is kept to a minimum– allowing the thoughtful composition to speak for itself. A trio of square doors creates a three-fold symmetry; each piece of wood has been carefully chosen so that the grain aligns with the shape and direction of the paneling. Original iron lock pieces with large drop handles add a robust decorative accent. The brindled golden tone and natural finish of the oak complements the unpretentious country aesthetic, with the weathered texture of the legs gesturing to the long lifespan of this resilient piece.
