    19th century French Henri II neoclassical walnut confiturier, cabinet is a stellar example of the petite buffet with one door affectionately called the confiturier because of its original design being intended to store confit jars in the kitchen. At some point it became obvious that a very useful miniature buffet like this would be ideal for other rooms, and the genre blossomed. This example, rendered from sumptuous French walnut, features neoclassical architecture including turned columns carved with fletching on the face fitted with Doric capitals on each cornerpost, flanking the stylized pyramidal heraldic crest on display in full relief at the center of the cabinet door.
