About the Item

Hand-carved in the 1800s in the style of Louis XVI, this French buffet features Neoclassical motifs and a wonderfully hand-painted faux marble top. The top has a subtle cavetto molding and has been painted gray with cream and darker gray “veining”, blending perfectly with the cream and gray main body. A pair of rectangular doors front the buffet, each adorned with a husked swag that slots through two carved rings at the top and is surrounded by rectangular molding. The doors open to reveal an unpainted interior with a single shelf. A recessed pilaster with a long, husked bow and a small floret flank each door, mirroring the husked door mullion. The apron is detailed with a thin crenelated motif that extends to both sides, which are carved in a similar shape as the doors, but without the swag embellishments. Supported by four tapering, arrow feet with a single chandelle on each side, our lovely Louis XVI-style buffet would make a wonderful addition to an entry, dining room, or living room.
