About the Item
Arturo Pani was born in Mexico City in 1915. Because of his father's work the Pani family travelled and lived in various European countries. In 1925 the family established themselves in Paris, where they remained until 1935, the year they returned to Mexico.
Arturo studied in the École des Beaux Arts where he focused on decoration and design. He worked on several projects alongside his brother Mario Pani, a recognized modern mexican architect. One of their most notable projects was the Reforma Hotel in the year 1936; Arturo was in charge of the realization of the furniture and the interior design of the lobby and some of the salons.
In 1943 he created the company De la Peña y Pani S. de R.L. for whom he had previously worked as a designer. Independently, in 1947, he opened his own store, better known as a decorating fim called Arturo Pani D., S.A.
Arturo Pani's designs are best known for his majestic combination of materials such as bronze, iron, wood and glass and on some occasions he used parchment.
He was mainly recognized for his bronzes in the forms of bows and pegs. Arturo died in 1981 in Mexico City.
