Buffet at Support Height with Painted Polychrome Decoration, Napoleon III Period

About the Item

Rare lacquer buffet on a black background decorated with splendid bouquets of flowers on the sides and garlands surrounding a bird on the front. These flowers are of a very precise quality of execution and the rendering is simply magnificent. It opens with two large doors and discovers a varnished mahogany interior with two shelves. The keyholes are in bronze and represent squirrels each nibbling a nut. The lock works. The marble is black and has two chips on the front. The bouquets are composed of simple or lush tulips, tender or bright roses, field or garden flowers. We also see birds, horses, cats, dogs, a whole more or less stylized and symbolic bestiary. A beautiful unique piece of furniture. Napoleon III period.
