About the Item

With a tactile geometry and restrained rusticity, this Spanish cabinet evokes the poetic architecture of Iberian vernacular design. Its façade, framed in solid elm, is composed of repeating recessed panels, their sculptural rhythm softened by the timber’s mellow, sun-washed grain. An iron latch—leaf-shaped, forged by hand—secures the doors like a gate upon a miniature fortress. Attributed to a provincial workshop in the spirit of the Spanish Revival, the cabinet reinterprets 17th-century Castilian forms for the domestic interior of the mid-20th century. Its silhouette is elevated by four turned legs—stately yet modest—which support a lower shelf defined by scalloped apron detailing, subtly echoing ecclesiastical altar tables. The upper compartment opens with a pair of paneled doors, revealing a single open storage space. The base shelf offers further utility, visually grounding the piece with horizontal repose. The cabinet’s use of relief carving and traditional joinery bespeaks its artisanal lineage, while its scale renders it adaptable as a console, drinks cabinet, or refined accent in a vestibule. Wear consistent with age and use. Meticulously preserved by Jada to maintain its structural integrity while honoring its original patina. A study in noble restraint, this cabinet offers a sculptural pause within the interior landscape. Available for private acquisition. Inquiries from discerning collectors are welcome.
