About the Item

A rare and charming manifestation of provincial French craftsmanship, this early 19th-century Charles X enfilade was made in Burgundy around 1825. Constructed from beautifully aged, wild cherry wood with exceptional figuring and warmth, the piece showcases a refined yet rustic elegance emblematic of the Charles X period interpreted through a rural lens. The enfilade features an unusually compact and well-proportioned form, with three upper drawers over three paneled cupboard doors. The top retains its original patina and exhibits a beautifully aged surface with visible craquelure, knots, and grain movement, showing evidence of the wood's natural history and the handwork that shaped it. All three lower doors open to reveal generous internal storage with fixed shelving. Original hardware and locks remain intact, including iron escutcheons and turned knobs. The piece rests on square block feet, giving it a grounded and framed presence. With its understated neoclassical lines, exceptional cherrywood grain, and functional form, this enfilade offers timeless character and utility, whether used in a dining room, entryway, or as a stylish storage solution in a contemporary setting.
