About the Item

A refined French console table from the 19th century, signed Monbro Aîné in several places. This exquisite piece features rich mahogany craftsmanship adorned with finely cast mercury-gilded bronze (ormolu) mounts, showcasing intricate floral and neoclassical motifs. The top is made of beautifully veined marble, adding a luxurious touch. Dimensions: 83 x 38 x 88 cm (Height) Condition: Shows signs of age and some minor losses, which do not detract from its overall beauty and historical charm. About Monbro Aîné Monbro Aîné was the commercial name of a distinguished 19th-century French furniture-making firm, renowned for producing high-end pieces in the Louis XVI, Empire, and Napoleon III styles. The term “Aîné” (meaning "the elder") was used to distinguish the elder brother who led the family workshop. The Monbro family, originally of German descent, established themselves in Paris and later also in London. Their firm, Monbro Aîné et Cie, earned international acclaim for the superb quality of its furniture and participated in major exhibitions, such as the Great Exhibition in London (1851) and the Exposition Universelle in Paris (1855), where they received awards and recognition.
