About the Item

An exquisite high quality French 19th century Empire Neo-Classical st. burl walnut and ormolu buffet. This handsome two door and two drawer buffet is raised on topie shaped feet with ormolu sabots. The doors have an inlaid kingwood border, with ormolu keyhole escutcheons and open to reveal an interior shelf. Centered is an ormolu square plaque with interior beads and a large acanthus leaf ormolu mount with tassels. At the frieze are two drawers with finely chased ormolu mounts and pulls. The rounded sides have a kingwood inlay, decorated with very impressive ormolu mounts of large acanthus leaves and tassels at the top and bottom. All below a stunning marble top.
