About the Item

A stunning and extremely elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, ormolu, and Arabescato marble buffet. The four door three drawer buffet is raised by beautiful topie shaped tapered legs with fine ormolu feet and wrap around mottled top caps. Above the straight frieze are the four doors each displaying recessed panels showcasing the exceptional wood grain framed within a delicate ormolu fillet and flanked by fluted columns with striking diamond shaped ormolu reserves. The doors each display fine ormolu keyhole escutcheons and open to reveal the finished interior, all original hardware, and two adjustable shelves. The sides are remarkably curved with recessed panels framed within fine ormolu fillets while the apron displays three drawers each decorated with circular mottled ormolu pulls. Above is the original Arabescato marble top framed within an elegant pierced ormolu gallery.
