About the Item

A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. mouchette mahogany, ormolu and marble five drawer two door buffet. The buffet is raised by fine circular tapered fluted legs with ormolu sabots and fine decorative foliate top caps. At the center are two doors, a smaller one to the left and larger one over two panels which display the beautiful mahogany grain and open to reveal one adjustable shelf and original impressive top to bottom hardware. To each side are display shelves with their original mirror back plates. At the frieze are five drawers, each displaying beautiful and richly chased foliate keyhole escutcheons with fine berried laurel pulls and fine foliate ormolu mounts. Above is the original marble top with a mottled border which follows the contour of the buffet.
