About the Item
A high quality and most impressive pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Ormolu, and Rosé de Brignol marble buffets, by French ébéniste Guingand. Each handsome buffet is raised by four topie shaped, tapered, and fluted feet. Above the straight front apron are the two front doors with mottled designs and swaging foliate Ormolu garlands. The inner sides of both front doors display foliate decorated Ormolu keyhole escutcheons. Both front doors are flanked by fluted columns with Ormolu chandelle reserves. The doors on both sides are decorated in a similar manner to the central doors with their swaging foliate Ormolu garlands, foliate decorated keyhole escutcheons, and fluted columns with chandelle reserves flanking each side. Above the four bottom doors, that open to reveal display shelves, are four finely detailed drawers with beaded Ormolu rectangular bands around the outer edge as well as circular Ormolu pulls. Each drawer is flanked by a vertically rectangular Ormolu rosette panel. Above are the demi lune shaped Rosé de Brignol marble tops showcasing stunning veining and following the shape of each buffet.
