French Louis XV Oak Buffet

About the Item

Louis XV buffet hand-made in France in the late 1700 early 1800s using oak and pegged construction. The buffet features a two over one conformation, with two drawers on top of a cabinet. The cabinet is large and provides plenty of storage space over two levels. The doors are made of inset chamfered inset panels decorated with a hand-carved star in the center framed by a rhomboid carving. The drawer are show beautiful hand-made dovetail joints and are also decorated on the front with a rhomboid hand-carving. Between the drawer we also find a start carving, just like the ones present on the doors. The decorations of the piece are very delicate and provide it with a nice balance and elegance. The sides are made of flat inset panels framed by flat molding. Throughout the piece one can see all the pegs holding the old joints together. The top is a single large board mortised into the case (as shown in pictures). This is an absolutely beautiful buffet. Its height allows is to provide plenty of storage space without taking much floor space, which make it a perfect piece for those looking for a pantry but do not have a lot of space. Its deep oak color will add warmth to any space and its delicate carvings will add decoration to the room. This is a piece that has been used over time and is ready to perform its duty for many more years to come.
