About the Item

Very important Renaissance chest transformed into a two-door sideboard in the 19th century. Composed of numerous carved wooden details. This sideboard is richly decorated and testifies to the talent of the cabinetmaker. We see angels, interlacing, medallions, plants, shells, etc. The hasp lock is vintage and is used today as a decoration. It was common in the 19th century to transform old medieval and Renaissance chests into more common pieces of furniture such as sideboards. The letters “P.KEC” engraved on the front may be an abbreviation of the name of the first owner of the piece of furniture. A wonderful piece of history, this magnificent carved piece of furniture offers plenty of storage space. France - 17th century
