Antique French Louis-Philippe Walnut Buffet with Shaped Drawer, Loire Valley, Late 19th Century A beautiful French Louis-Philippe walnut buffet from the Loire Valley, dating from the late 19th century. This elegant piece features a large shaped (“à doucine”) apron drawer that glides smoothly, built with dovetail joints, and does not have a lock. Below, two paneled doors with finely detailed brass escutcheons open with a working key to reveal a single interior shelf, providing functional storage while preserving the clean lines of the Louis-Philippe style. The cabinet stands on “pistolet” feet, and the construction is mortise and tenon, ensuring solidity across generations. The walnut has been waxed over time, giving it a warm patina while maintaining its vibrant grain. This piece comes from a Loire Valley bourgeois family who owned a wine estate near Angers, and it is ready to welcome your personal effects in a refined yet practical way.
