Pine One Piece Irish Glazed Dresser
About the Item
This is a fine example of an Irish glazed dresser from Co. Sligo, built in one piece, as is typical, and in almost entirely original condition.
The upper section features a bold crown molding above two wide-swinging doors which still retain their original glass, though most of the original putty is missing. The tongue-and-groove backboards, which run top to bottom, are polished where they are visible through the upper cupboard and behind the two interior shelves. The base section comprises a shallow counter above two drawers, lap-jointed with a decorative bead around the drawer front, and two wide-swinging doors, the frames beautifully through-tenoned, with two flat panels in each. The side boards run to the floor, as do the front stiles, ending in primitive bracket feet.
The piece is hand-polished to a lovely honey glow.
