About the Item

Substantial pine cabinet with wavy glass-front doors above and concealed storage below, beautifully combines rustic charm with traditional architectural detailing. The upper cabinet features two glass-paneled doors with distinctive undulating panes that softly distort and refract light, lending an atmospheric presence. Inside, shaped fixed shelving offers generous space for display, framed by inverted scalloped trim along both the interior and the cabinet’s face—a decorative gesture that echoes early Continental influences with restraint. Below, a pair of solid pine doors open to a roomy interior, ideal for stowing linens and serve-ware. The shaped skirt gives the whole piece an elegant stance, while the natural pine finish provides warmth and visual texture. Whether styled in a dining room, kitchen, or bedroom, this cabinet bridges utility and beauty. A strong standalone piece that would also work well in layered interiors with European antiques and American primitives. 52”W x 19.75”D x 83.5”H (at cornice) 47”W x 17.88”D (at body) 49”W x 19.13”D (at base)

Antique Early 19th C. American Maple And Pine Corner Cabinet
Located in New Orleans, LA
Antique early 19th century American pine and maple Corner Cupboard, c 1810. Made of pine and maple, featuring triangular form with stunning original glazed wavy glass doors, three drawers and wood doors below This cupboard has pale pink old milk painted interior shelves. The glass features waves and bubbles consistent with age and was completely hand made with wooden pegs. Ever wonder how large, tall pieces of furniture were moved in and out of the small doorways in 18th-19th century homes? Beginning about 1740, corner cupboards were very popular storage pieces. Some were built into the room by carpenters so they never had to be moved. Instead of a rectangular piece of furniture, the corner piece was triangular in the back so it fit into a corner with no wasted space. Through the years, many of these built-ins have been removed and given new backs. Most old corner cupboards were made by a cabinetmaker to be moved from house to house. The top section usually had glass cabinet doors covering several shelves. The silver or dishes inside were arranged to be admired. The bottom section had two wooden cabinet doors...
