19th Century Flemish Renaissance Confiturier ~ Cabinet in Stripped Oak

About the Item

19th Century Flemish Renaissance Confiturier ~ Cabinet in Stripped Oak hails from the Antwerp region, and exhibits the definitive combination of geometric forms with Renaissance-inspired carved detail set with the constraints of neoclassical architecture. The surprisingly spacious beveled top rests on the upper drawer tier which is defined by a carved drawer facade centered with a cast bronze bale pull and flanked by a pair of smiling lions situated as corbels on each corner. Tapered and carved pilasters extend down beneath each lion to form the framework for the intriguing cabinet door design, which features the trademark geometric molding design popular in the region, surrounded by Greek coin bordering and centered with a full relief carving of a lion's head. The base is a complex combination of elongated egg with rosettes and a bold base molding wrapping around the entire casework. Door and drawer both open to reveal spacious storage. Ideal as a bathroom sink vanity! If you act fast, a "his & hers" twin is available, same style and exactly the same dimensions! Circa 1870s Measures 40H x 36W x 23D Available for pickup in Baton Rouge, LA.
