About the Item

A classic French Provincial Lit Clos Bed once a staple of most homes in the Brittany region of France. With an antique hand-written label with Belgian addresses. The date 1838 is inscribed on the top. Originally a traditional bed made in Brittany, France. A carved top band is over an arched and turned spool type frieze with brass rosettes. The bed/cabinet has two sets of double doors all of which slide open. The end ones have matching frieze details over carved panels with bird motifs and brass rosettes. These doors slide over the second set with shaped and carved recessed panels. Two long shelves are now inside. It is raised on a separate stand with recessed panels and square legs. Dimensions: 64" wide x 15 3/4" deep x 72" total height Condition: Please review the detail photos. Various signs of age include stable age cracks, wood and finish losses, wear to the legs and feet . Well worn overall with old gouges and cracks but stable. The top plain carved molding above the doors is slightly warped on the left side. Despite the wear the Cabinet presents in a warm and classic French Country manner.
