19th Century Tapered Cabinet

About the Item

Antique Chinese tapered cabinet. Solid elm wood with round corner details, tapering 33 at the top to 34 at the bottom. Classic Chinese tenon and mortise joinery of a past century having a modernist and minimal style today. Two drawers inside with a top shelf of 13.5 H, middle shelf 12.5 H and lower shelf 13.5 H. Very good condition with excellent storage.

A waisted (refers to specific Chinese furniture construction & joinery) raised top set on frame with hump back stretchers and struts. A most sensational patina of black lacquer worn through to the wood showcases the benches elegant presence and raw beauty. This is an original piece with a 200 plus year history.
