About the Item

The 21st Century Modern Wenge, Ziricote and Zebrawood liquor cabinet is part of the Walker Design Studios Vanderbilt Collection. The collection is inspired by minimalism and modernism. Exotic hardwoods from across the globe are utilized in this collection and tell a wonderful story of the region and the culture surrounding it. Our studio utilized Wenge, Ziricote and Zebrawood for this piece. Wenge is an exotic hardwood from Central Africa. The species is dark brown with black streaks, it appears nearly black with an oiled finish. The main body of this piece is made of Wenge. Ziricote is an exotic hardwood that is native to Central America and Mexico. The color range is from medium brown too black. Our studio incorporated the yellowish sapwood into the drawers and door of the cabinet. Zebrawood is am exotic hardwood that is native to West Africa. The heartwood is light brown or cream color with dark blackish brown streaks. Our studio constructed the drawer bottoms of Zebrawood. The cabinet has a leather wrapped wood inlay on its top for crafting cocktails or "softer" area for glass decanters. The cabinet has two drawers for accessory storage and a door for storage of liquor bottles. The drawer pulls are custom made in house. The drawer pulls are brushed brass wrapped in chocolate brown leather. All of the wood that we use at Walker Design is natural. This means that each piece of furniture is a one-of-a-kind creation. Please note that no two pieces are exactly alike and your piece may look slightly different from the one in the photo. That’s part of the charm of handmade furniture.
