Art Deco cabinet attributed to Joseph De Bruycker

About the Item

Cabinet from a house designed by Joseph De Bruycker in Belgium, 1938. this bookcase is made of veneer wood with a beautiful grain structure. The cabinet is made out of two volumes giving the design a unique tension between each layers. The cabinet has two small doors on each side with vitrine glass and in the middle two big doors with a lot of storage space behind. The aluminum handles are a typical element for Joseph De Bruycker and are a fine example of the heyday of the Art Deco period. Born in 1891, Joseph De Bruycker became an architect in 1927 and settled in Roeselare. He has a modern style that consists of a succession of volumes and has a cubistic feel. Joseph Debruycker's furniture is rare and hard to find. What makes this cabinet unique. The geometric shapes and subtle details make this cabinet suitable for any interior. Often, he designed the furniture together with the house they were meant for creating interior design in harmony with the building. This also means that all his pieces are very unique and designed especially for the houses he designed.
