Carved Oak Cabinet with Lion Mask Carvings, circa 1850
About the Item
Elegant but not too heavily carved, this oak cabinet showcases a dentil cornice, two top drawers flanked by lion mask carvings at the sides and between the doors, double doors flanked by decorated fluted panels, an open lower shelf, raised panels with diamond patterns on the sides, and an apron below the doors with a central lion's mask. The lions at the upper corners hold brass rings in their mouths. Raised on bun front feet and block rear feet, the cabinet is double bodied with the upper gallery resting on the lower shelf portion.
