Danish Art Deco Glass-Front Bookcase or Display Cabinet by Georg Kofoed

About the Item

Capture the luxurious spirit of the Art Deco Period with this rare bookcase cabinet, designed and produced by the Danish firm Georg Kofoed Møbelfabrikant around 1930-1940. This gorgeous piece boasts a streamlined silhouette, with a curved front that gives pure Art Deco drama. The lockable lower cabinet provides secure storage, while the display top features adjustable shelves and sliding glass doors to protect your collection from dust. This gorgeous piece is finished in a harmonious variety of rich wood veneers: the majority of the case appears to be walnut, with rich burled figuring showcased on the top surface of the lower cabinet. The back panel of the upper cabinet possesses a luminous flamed grain which suggests birch; while the shelves have the banded glow of mahogany. Luxurious copper banding and sabots complete the look of this once-in-a-lifetime piece. Georg Kofoed, a luminary in Danish furniture design, contributed significantly to the Mid-20th-Century aesthetic. His creations are celebrated for their luxurious elegance and masterful craftsmanship. The inclusion of a piece with the original manufacturer's label enhances the desirability of this pair, connecting the buyer directly to the legacy of Georg Kofoed and the Golden Era of Danish craftsmanship.
