About the Item

Rare sculptural radiator cover or storage cabinet by Luciano Frigerio, Italy, circa 1960s. The piece is made of richly grained wood and features Frigerio’s distinctive geometric relief pattern on the front. Unlike a conventional sideboard, it opens from the top with a hinged valve. Originally designed to conceal a radiator, it allowed heat to circulate through the slatted upper section while providing a functional surface to keep food or textiles warm. Today it works equally well as a low console or storage cabinet — ideal for blankets, books, or ski clothing — and can serve as a display piece for ceramics or flowers. The craftsmanship and depth of the wood finish show the high quality typical of Frigerio’s workshop in Desio, near Milan. A beautiful example of Italian postwar design that combines sculptural presence with everyday utility. We absolutely love Luciano Frigerio and we have more pieces in our collection such as the famous dining table (with the 6 frog legs) and the Piano Living Room set so don't forget to check them out! We handle worldwide shipping in-house and are often faster than external carriers, with delivery to the U.S. and Asia normally after two weeks including the crating process.
