Double-sided cabinet Collector from the Alexandre Arrechea SoShiro collaboration

About the Item

This versatile Collector, a double-sided cabinet made of pear wood, is the culmination of SoShiro’s and Alexandre Arrechea’s Layers collection collaboration. It is a transformative shelf unit inspired by one of Arrechea’s Corners series photographs, Blue Eye, and has been reimagined in mosaic as a drop-down shelf. The eye explores Arrechea’s themes of surveillance in his artworks, particularly with the idea that the corners of buildings in Havana are considered witnesses to Cuba's history and changes. The Collector celebrates exceptional craftsmanship from the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, the master mosaic school in Italy, as well as beauty in design with its many adaptable functions. With six shelves and multiple cubby spaces, plus a drop-down shelf, this cabinet makes the perfect bar, organizer, or partition divider cabinet.
