About the Item

This mid-18th century cabinet is a so called 'kussenkast' or pillow cabinet. The pillow refers to the shape of the raised panels in the doors. It is a typical Dutch Renaissance cabinet. The pillows are enhanced by the various colored parts. It is constructed of fine solid oakwood and walnut veneer. The cabinet has two drawers at the lower part. One of them is equipped with a lock with key. It stands on ebonised bunfeet. The cabinet has two and a halve fixed shelves and original hardware. This cabinet has been restored in our workshop.
