About the Item

Restoration required. Dutch marquetry cabinet, large angular form with shaped cornice with a floral basket marquetry panel over double glazed doors in the centre (one escutcheon but lacking the key) flanked by glazed side panels, with two shaped inside shelves. Herringbone string inlays. A lower bombe from chest with three graduated long drawers with leafy scroll decoration and elaborate marquetry panels with leafy urns on the sides. The bottom shaped frame with putti in the centre and butterflies on the sides. Raised on scrolled front feet. Cast brass hardware with urns and swags on the drawers. Condition: Restoration required. Please see detail photos. There are many veneer losses and the remaining veneer is dry and flaking. Expected signs of wear and use including cracks and losses to the veneer. Despite the losses, the form remains a very fine Baroque example and with proper restoration could be magnificent.
