Eighteenth Century Swedish Cabinet

$9,500

About

Eighteenth century Swedish cabinet in two parts with overall marbled surface. The upper section has a beautifully carved pediment over a pair of arched doors which retain the original old glass. Inside are three fixed shelves, the uppermost shaped and notched for silverware. The original locks which secured the family’s valuables still serve the same purpose today. The lower section conceals a single shelf behind a pair of doors with arched and recessed panels and sits on nicely shaped bracket feet. This cabinet was surely created for a well-to-do home. Its bold form and glass doors would have demonstrated the status of its owners while keeping their treasures safe.
