English Regency Rosewood cabinet in the manner of John McLean

About the Item

Regency rosewood cabinet This Regency rosewood cabinet was made circa 1820 and attributed to be from the workshops of John McLean and sons. This wonderful cabinet has many uses, a drinks cabinet perhaps, a bookcase or an occasional desk where you could work using the fall-down front. The cabinet has the superb brass spindle gallery with the anthemion motifs to each corner. The fall-down front with the interior with a fixed shelf, and to each side of this the stiles have brass line inlay, also to the doors in the base. Under the fall are a pair of brass grilled doors with the indent corners. The doors open to reveal the interior with 2 adjustable shelves. The Regency rosewood cabinet stands on claw feet to the front and turned feet to the rear all are in parcel gilt. The design is very much in the style of John McLean and may have been made in his workshops. John McLeans furniture was known to be of the highest calibre and his items were used to furnish many of the finest houses in London. Dimensions 150cms high 58 3/4ins 27cms deep 10 1/2ins 77cms wide 30 1/2ins Measurements are as accurate as possible.
