About the Item

This impressive cabinet was crafted in southern Germany around 1720 and represents one of the most distinctive and sculptural Baroque furniture types of its time – the so-called “Nasenschrank”, named for its characteristic nose-shaped mouldings on the doors and cornice. Made of solid oak on a pinewood corpus, the piece displays a remarkable geometric façade with deeply profiled surfaces and an architectural sense of proportion typical of early 18th-century craftsmanship and design culture. All fittings, locks and the original key are preserved, and the cabinet still stands on its authentic pressed ball feet, showcasing its excellent state of preservation. The surface was carefully restored and hand-polished to reveal the warm, honey-colored patina of the oak. A rare and impressive example of German Baroque design – elegant, bold, and timeless.
