About the Item

An exceptional French 19th century Transitional st. rosewood, kingwood, mouchette mahogany, burl elm, ormolu, and Rouge Griotte marble cabinet vitrine. The three door, three drawer vitrine is raised by six thick handsome lightly curved legs below the scalloped shaped apron. The central door retains its original glass pane framed within a fine ormolu fillet and mottled border adorned with richly chased floral mounts. The two side doors each display a beautiful and most decorative quarter veneered kingwood panel also framed within an ormolu fillet and adorned with richly chased foliate mounts. The three drawers at the top display superb ormolu mounts with unique interlocking geometric designs and finely detailed foliate designs separated by charming rosettes. The doors open to reveal the exceptional finished interior with an additional quarter veneered panel framed within a burl elm border and three adjustable shelves. The sides display superb and impressive mouchette mahogany panels fitted within mottled bands. Above the remarkable, lightly curved veneered rosewood top which showcases the stunning rosewood grain is the original fitted Rouge Griotte marble top.
