About the Item

A stunning pair of impressive 19th century French ebonized cabinets or bookcases. Napoleon III Period. It features a rounded moulded cornice above a pair of shaped glazed doors, side panelled glass, flanked by a pair of carved, reeded and turned columns. The lower case features a pair of oak lined drawers above a pair of doors that open to reveal a large storage space with a single adjustable shelf, again flanked by a pair of carved, reeded and turned columns. All standing on turned feet. Original oak panelled back. Original keys with working locks. Great patina and superb quality. Throughout its long life, the wood finish has acquired a patina that is simply amazing and has an undeniable antique quality. Impeccable craftsmanship. This elegant and richly pair of ebonized cabinets from France will be a great acquisition for all contemporary or traditional interiors. Great quality! A good pair of French Napoleon III period antique furniture. Complete with working locks and key. The dimensions are: Height: 264cm (103.9in) Width: 140cm (55.1in) Depth: 59cm (23.2in) This pair of antique French ebonized cabinets remains structurally solid and sound, with the drawers running well, working locks, original oak panelled backs, working locks and keys and all made of solid ebonized mahogany, with beautiful carvings. Comes apart in two sections for ease of transport. Overall, a clean example with burgundy colour velvet fabric interior to top. In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age.
